Did you ever observe this term and also did you ever see the consequences of such problems?
- The user wants to do X and starts doing the same.
- User deviates and starts doing Y, he doesn't know how to do Y either.
- He asks help for Y.
- Others help him to do Y but it looks somewhat strange to them.
- After much discussion, others will get to know that user's requirement is not Y and Y is no way related to X.
This problem mostly occurs when the user doesn't have much knowledge and tries to do that task.
What loss occurs due to this?
wastage of so much time occurs in helping the user and interacting with him.
How to avoid such situations?
whenever the user asks you a strange thing, ask him for clarity.
The best example of this problem:
The user wants to get the extension name of a file, he asks a question "how to get the last 3 characters of a file name" which is no way related to his requirement.
